All Japan Kendo Federation


All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) is a government authorized organization that promotes Kendo and represents amateur Kendo in Japan. All Japan Kendo Federation is also the body for Kodansha Meibo, the register of Dan graded members of the organization.

The purpose of the establishment of AJKF is defined as an organization which exercises general control over and representing the amateur Kendo (including Iaido – “Way of the sword” and Jodo “Way of the stick” circles, AJKF strives for the promotion of Kendo, infiltrates the spirit of Kendo into the Japanese people and distributes to the improvement of national physique.´

In October 1952 the Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei (ZNKR) or All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) was established. Twenty years later, in February 1972 the Ministry of Education recognized AJKF as a judicial foundation.
